Reflection on Dan Meyer's Blog

Dan Meyer's Blog
The purpose of this blog is to provide people, especially teachers with information on a range of topics from assessments, classroom management, work ethic, curriculum design and many more topics. The author of this blog, Dan Meyer, is a professional, educator and great scholar so his blog will be very useful for anyone and credible.
I would use this sight if I needed guidance on a certain aspect in my teaching career. It’s nice to have multiple resources to use for direction in my own classroom. This website could help me learn more about my teaching because Mr. Meyer is a well versed math teacher and all of his strategies and tools have been tested and can work within a teacher’s own unique classroom setting. Taking what he’s done in his classrooms and trying them in mine next could be very beneficial.

The most interesting aspect of this resource would be one all of his categories to pick information about. It’s a little overwhelming how much he provides to the public. I clicked on the assessment tab and read a little down the page and noticed a neat type of assessment I had never heard of. It was called Smarter, Balanced Assessment Consortium’s. He stated it was used throughout California and was a better method for grading student’s knowledge and skills. I would recommend this source to a friend or fellow teacher because there is so much information and categories to search through there must be something useful to everyone. Also it helps as I mentioned above that he is a teacher and if he tried something out already and says it’s great why not try it in your own classroom as well.
